ENTER THE CHAOS
You’re Just Visiting.
We are a rescue sanctuary, not a polished theme park. It’s peaceful, yet informal and unapologetically hands-on.
We don’t have exhibits; we have roommates. And most of them have been waiting all day to judge your outfit and steal your snacks.
MOST WANTED
The Finger-Snatcher
Our resident donkey is the life of the party, but he’s convinced your index finger is a gourmet snack. He’s fun, he’s vocal, and he’s highly motivated by treats.
THE RULE: It’s safest to place one or two pieces of food on his fence. If you offer a “carrot” (your finger), he will try to take a deposit.
FLAT PALMS ONLY!
SUBJECT: Your Generosity
Our prairie dogs are the zoo’s unofficial accountants. They don’t care about your life story...
THE TURKEY HUSTLE
CRIMINAL RECORD:
Excessive honking, zero respect for personal space, and unauthorized "goosing" of visitors.
THE VERDICT:
Gus isn't trying to eat you. He’s "imprinted," meaning he thinks humans are his literal family. If he follows you, he’s just waiting for you to lead the flock. Consider it a rite of passage.
This is a working rescue farm, and our chickens have the run of the place.
That means you'll probably find poop on the ground, fences and everywhere in between!
Watch your step, wear shoes you don't love, and embrace the 💩.
ZERO PRETENSION.
"So grateful to have this refuge for animals in Delaware! There are still good people out there. Thank you for opening this place to the public and taking such good care of the animals. Note for visitors: it’s a good idea to wear long pants as there is a friendly vulture who likes pants and shoes and may get your ankle instead! Regardless, we had a great time!"
"Love this little rescue zoo. The staff are very nice and knowledgeable about the animals. My first time going at Christmas. The lights were beautiful. Just wish we could've fed the animals but were told we can't feed them during holiday events.🎄🎄🎄"
"I went with my family this past weekend and had an AMAZING time. Staff were so knowledgeable and kind, and all of the animals looked so happy!! 10/10 recommend. Gus the goose was our fav!!"
