Where I'm Found
Domesticated waterfowl found worldwide on farms and ponds. Most breeds are descended from the Greylag Goose, which is native to wide swaths of Europe and Asia.
What I Eat
Herbivorous grazers with a strong preference for short grass.
- Wild: Grasses, aquatic plants, roots, and grains.
- Zoo: Waterfowl pellets, leafy greens, and cracked corn.

Fun Facts
- Guard Dogs: Geese are historically used as “watchdogs” because they are territorial and will loudly honk at intruders.
- Monogamy: They often pair for life and can be visibly distressed if separated from their mate.
- Grounded for Life: Unlike wild geese, domestic breeds are much heavier and cannot fly; they spend their time grazing and swimming instead.
