Omnivorous grazers and hunters.

• Wild: Grasses, termites, small fish, and reptiles.
• Zoo: Waterfowl pellets, greens, and insects.

• Wild: 8 – 12 years
• Captivity: 15 – 20 years

• Face Warts: They are easily identified by the red, fleshy caruncles (warts) around their eyes and beak.
• Tree Dwellers: Unlike most ducks, they have sharp claws on their webbed feet and often roost in trees.
• Silent Types: They don’t quack. Males make a low hissing sound, and females make a soft trill.
