Domesticated pet found worldwide. All domestic breeds are descendants of the European Rabbit, which is native to the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal) and parts of northwest Africa.
What I Eat
Fibrous herbivores requiring constant grazing.
- Wild: Grasses, clover, bark, and weeds.
- Zoo: Timothy hay (unlimited), pellets, and leafy greens.
How Long I Live
- Wild: 1 – 2 years
- Captivity: 8 – 12 years
Fun Facts
- Cecotropes: They produce special night droppings rich in nutrients which they re-ingest to maximize digestion.
- Teeth: Their teeth never stop growing and are worn down by chewing fibrous hay.
- Vision: They have nearly 360-degree vision, with only a small blind spot directly in front of their nose.
