My Story
I started my life as a ‘Silver Fox’—a name that sounds fancy, but actually just describes my beautiful dark coat. My first family loved me, but they didn’t realize that under Delaware law, I’m considered a native Red Fox. In our state, owning a native species is illegal, and for animals like me, that mistake usually ends in a tragedy.
When the state found out about me, the standard protocol wasn’t a relocation—it was euthanasia for rabies testing. I am incredibly lucky; my owners were given the chance to surrender me here to 3 Palms instead. I’m a living reminder that while we are beautiful, ‘unordinary’ pets require extraordinary research. I’m safe now, but my story is a plea to everyone: please check your local laws before bringing a wild heart home.
